This site is a place carved out on the web by a guy originally from Brooklyn and loves the NY Mets - hence BKLYNMET. Bklynmet moved to Indiana of all places, where he decided to try out keeping salt-water aquarium.

After tiring of the drab fish coloration, Bklynmet converted his freshwater 29 gallon bow-front aquarium to salt-water after the birth of his daughter in 2003. Not knowing any better, he had purchased a Skilter (all newbies to the hobby seem to buy one as a 'right-of-passage' because their local fish store (LFS) sells them). He quickly got an air-stone type protein skimmer by Red-Sea to actually manufactured foam. The die-off of the 29 gallon, constant algae, and low-quality equipment almost made him give up on the hobby.

On one of his trips to Meijer's to buy distilled water for his tank, Bklynmet stumbled across FAMA magazine where he learned a few tips and was introduced to equipment the LFS would never stock. Live Rock was a mystery until that point. Armed with a new magazine subscription, links to online vendors and forums, and lots of reading of reef and aquarium books sold by Barnes and Noble, Bklynmet began planning his next tank.

The tank die-off coincided with the purchase of a home - which was great! This meant not having to worry about moving livestock. It also meant Bklynmet can keep a larger tank. In September, he purchased his 75 gallon tank and stand and began the work.
